Al-Humaza

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 104:1

   وَيْلٌۭ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍۢ لُّمَزَةٍ﴿١﴾

   Woe to every backbiter and slanderer,

2. 104:2

   ٱلَّذِى جَمَعَ مَالًۭا وَعَدَّدَهُۥ﴿٢﴾

   who amasses wealth and counts it over and again[1],

   [1] Instead of spending in the way of Allah.

3. 104:3

   يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُۥٓ أَخْلَدَهُۥ﴿٣﴾

   thinking that his wealth will make him live forever.

4. 104:4

   كَلَّا ۖ لَيُنۢبَذَنَّ فِى ٱلْحُطَمَةِ﴿٤﴾

   No indeed! He will surely be cast into the Crushing Fire[1],

   [1] i.e., Hellfire, as it crushes and destroys all that is thrown in it.

5. 104:5

   وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحُطَمَةُ﴿٥﴾

   and how do you know what the Crushing Fire is?

6. 104:6

   نَارُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُوقَدَةُ﴿٦﴾

   It is the kindled Fire of Allah,

7. 104:7

   ٱلَّتِى تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى ٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةِ﴿٧﴾

   which reaches the hearts[1].

   [1] Penetrating through bodies and reaching the hearts.

8. 104:8

   إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌۭ﴿٨﴾

   It will be closed down upon them,

9. 104:9

   فِى عَمَدٍۢ مُّمَدَّدَةٍۭ﴿٩﴾

   locked with towering columns[1].

   [1] i.e., columns of fire or columns of iron to which the inmates of Hell are chained.
