Az-Zalzala

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 99:1

   إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا﴿١﴾

   When the earth is shaken with a mighty quake,

2. 99:2

   وَأَخْرَجَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ أَثْقَالَهَا﴿٢﴾

   and the earth throws out its burdens[1],

   [1] i.e., its dead bodies and treasures.

3. 99:3

   وَقَالَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ مَا لَهَا﴿٣﴾

   and man says[1], “What is the matter with it?”

   [1] In terror and astonishment.

4. 99:4

   يَوْمَئِذٍۢ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا﴿٤﴾

   On that Day it will recount all its news,

5. 99:5

   بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوْحَىٰ لَهَا﴿٥﴾

   because your Lord has inspired it [to do so].

6. 99:6

   يَوْمَئِذٍۢ يَصْدُرُ ٱلنَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًۭا لِّيُرَوْا۟ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ﴿٦﴾

   On that Day all people will come forward in separate groups to be shown their deeds[1].

   [1] From the place of Judgment to see the consequences of their deeds, whether to Paradise or to Hell.

7. 99:7

   فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًۭا يَرَهُۥ﴿٧﴾

   So whoever does an atom’s weight[1] of good will see it,

   [1] Or a small ant’s weight.

8. 99:8

   وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍۢ شَرًّۭا يَرَهُۥ﴿٨﴾

   and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.
